Hot Toddy

The origin of the Hot Toddy dates back to the 18th century and is a traditional cold weather drink, especially in Scotland and Ireland. The word "toddy" is thought to have originated from a drink called toddy in India; the British began to use the name to describe a mixture of hot water, sugar, spices and spirits. Over time, a version with whisky, honey and lemon became popular in Britain. It gained a reputation as a comforting drink, especially during the winter months or when a cold is felt.
