The Vampiro cocktail is one of the traditional tequila drinks that originated in the Jalisco region of Mexico. It is especially popular in and around the town of Tequila, known as the birthplace of tequila.

The origin of the cocktail dates back to the 1960s. According to legend, Oscar Hernández, a local juice seller, wanted to create a fresh but spicy drink that could be mixed with tequila. This drink, which he prepared by combining orange juice, lime juice and spicy sauces, soon began to be made in bars in the neighborhood.
