The Revolver cocktail is one of the standout recipes of the modern cocktail world. Created in 2004 by Jon Santer, a renowned bartender at the Bourbon & Branch bar in San Francisco. Inspired by whiskey-based cocktails such as the classic Manhattan and Old Fashioned, Santer wanted to develop a recipe with more distinction and character.
The use of coffee liqueur gives the cocktail deep and roasted flavors. This is combined with the warm and spicy character of the whiskey to create a very balanced drink. The orange bitters adds a light citrus aroma to the cocktail, making the flavors more pronounced.
