Last Word was created at the Detroit Athletic Club in the 1910s. However, with the Prohibition Period and changing tastes, it was forgotten.
It was rediscovered by a bar in Seattle in the early 2000s and instantly became a modern classic.
Four ingredients, equal proportions.
Neither one dominates, nor one takes a back seat.
The intense herbal character of chartreuse, the subtle sweetness of maraschino, the acidity of lime and the backbone of gin combine to create a surprisingly balanced structure.
“Sometimes in life it's not about having the last word, but striking the right balance”
This cocktail is not called "The Last Word" for nothing.
It puts the final point on the table.
