COCKTAIL RECIPE
Hemingway Daiquiri
Hemingway Daiquiri - A fresh and slightly tart daiquiri variation made with white rum, lime juice, grapefruit juice and maraschino liqueur. It offers a balanced and characterful drink.
The Hemingway Daiquiri is an iconic cocktail named after the famous American writer Ernest Hemingway and born from the bar culture in Havana, Cuba. As the story goes, Hemingway used to frequent the famous El Floridita bar in Havana and order a classic daiquiri. However, he didn't like sugar, so he asked the bartender to make the drink drier and stronger. In response, the bar's legendary bartender Constantino Ribalaigua changed the classic daiquiri recipe, adding maraschino liqueur and grapefruit juice instead of sugar. The new recipe was both more aromatic and more balanced. Over time, this special version became known as the "Hemingway Daiquiri" and became a symbolic drink that united the world of literature and cocktail culture. Still served in many bars around the world today, it is considered one of the most famous variations of the classic daiquiri.
