The B-52 shot cocktail is thought to have originated in Canada in the 1970s. According to the most common story, it was created by a bartender working in a hotel bar in the province of Alberta. Thanks to its layered appearance and sweet aroma, it quickly became popular in bar culture.

β€œSometimes the smallest things can have the biggest impact.”

The cocktail is named after America's famous bomber, the B-52 Stratofortress. Its layered appearance is considered to be strong and striking, which is why this name was chosen.

Over time, the B-52 has become one of the most recognized shot cocktails worldwide. In some bars, there is also a "Flaming B-52" version, which is served with the top layer burned off.
