Three Dots and a Dash was created in the 1940s by Donn Beach (Don the Beachcomber), one of the most famous names in tiki cocktail culture. The name of the cocktail comes from the Morse alphabet. "Three dots and a dash" or "...-" represents the letter "V" in the Morse alphabet and was the "Victory" symbol used during the Second World War.

Donn Beach created this cocktail as a tribute to wartime soldiers. The tropical and rich aroma of the drink reflects the tiki bar atmosphere of the time. The combination of multiple types of rum, spicy syrups and citrus gives the drink a very complex character.

“Victory sometimes comes not in big steps, but in a combination of small signs.”

Over time, the Three Dots and a Dash has become one of the most respected cocktails of tiki culture. Thanks to its complex yet balanced structure, it is considered a good example of how creative and aromatic tiki cocktails can be. Today, it continues to appear on many tiki bar menus.
