The Harvey Wallbanger cocktail is a popular cocktail that originated in California, USA in the late 1950s and early 1960s. As the story goes, a surfer named Harvey was drinking his usual Screwdriver cocktail when the bartender created a different version by adding Galliano to the drink. Rumor has it that Harvey walked out of the place after a few drinks, bumping into walls, hence the name "Wallbanger", meaning "wallbanger". Although the story is a bit humorous, the cocktail gained worldwide fame thanks to marketing campaigns, especially in the 1970s. The sweet vanilla Galliano flavor, the freshness of orange juice and the balance of vodka combine to create a cocktail that is both fun and easy to drink. Today, Harvey Wallbanger is considered one of the best-known representatives of retro cocktail culture.
